Antiperspirants

Antiperspirants and why you should not use them

by Michael Smith (Veshengro)

Perspiration is the body's way to regulate itself and if you prevent that then there could be repercussions.

Most, if not indeed all, antiperspirants clog up the pored of your body and thus stop your perspiration and with it the self-regulation of the body in heat or when you body performs heavy work.

This can lead to all sorts of problems, including heat stroke, and that is not something to be messed with.

So you are concerned about your body odor and thus use antiperspirant as a means of covering it up. However, your body odor does not, necessarily, have anything to do with your body's heat regulatory mechanism but could be due to diet or other underlying condition. Thus, in the case of body odor, especially offensive body odor, the first stop should not be perfumes and other chemicals, such as antiperspirant, but a visit to the doctors.

In addition to that there are other, natural ways, to reduce the odor produced by perspiration, if one is really concerned about this. But diet should take care of much of it and if that does not then there is, more than likely, an underlying health reason which requires looking at.

To reiterate once again... do not use chemicals to clog your pores to stop you sweating. Sweating is the body's natural mechanism for regulating body heat and overheating.
